The 4MOTION permanent four-wheel drive system from Volkswagen distributes the engine's power to all four wheels in accordance with current requirements.
On models whose engine is installed longitudinally, a Torsen differential splits the drive force between the front and rear axles. Models with a transverse engine use a Haldex coupling.
The 4MOTION system offers a very high standard of active safety, sure-footed traction over virtually all surfaces as well as optimum straight-line stability at all times, even in crosswinds.
